After a week of fighting in words, the Tanzanian boxers, Maneno Oswald aka Mtambo wa Gongo and Rashid Matumla ‘Snake Man’ on Sunday staged into a boxing ring at Dar Live in Dar es Salaam.
Veteran boxer, Maneno Oswald, edged his long time rival, Rashid Matumla, by unanimous split points decision in a super middleweight10-round bout.
The two boxers were meeting for the third time this year with all three bouts seeking to find out who is the better fighter and Maneno’s victory on Sunday saw him improve his head to head record with Matumla to 2-1 this year.
The bout looked balanced in the eighth and ninth rounds which saw both boxers opt for timid approach and the same could be said of the early stages of the last round. But the two then exchanged powerful jabs during the bout’s closing stages in a bid to win maximum points and Maneno was, in the end, the happier man as he had already done enough to deserve victory.
He was awarded a special belt by the bout’s organizers shortly after the results were announced. “I’m happy I have won''
The fight was accompanied by different shows from Bongo Flavor artists such as Maunda Zoro, Juma Nature, Mwasiti Almas, Mabaga Fresh and Jahazi Modern Taarab under Mzee Yusuph.

Maneno looked more confident right from the start and threw more powerful jabs to keep Matumla at bay in the first round, while the latter attempted a few punches that almost had no effect on his opponent.
According to their agreement, any boxer who will lose the fight must retire. So Matumla retired/is going to retire??....any latest update people!
