News Alert: high-rise building collapses in Dar
The ill-fated building crumbled at around 8:15am was situated at the junction of Indira Gandhi and Asia streets in one of Dar es Salaam’s busiest business centres.
People at the site blamed the government for being inept, saying it should be held accountable for the consequent loss of lives.
The disaster has revived bitter memories of the 2008 incident involving a 10-storey building which crumbled along Mtendeni Street in the city centre, in which two people died and several others were injured.
