Kelly Rowland admits to being envious of Beyoncé's career in her new song
But it always seemed that Beyoncé was the more prominent one in the group, somewhat overshadowing fellow members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
That became even more evident when the group split up and went on to have solo careers.
Kelly Rowland wants the spotlight and a confessional is a good way to do it.
The R&B songstress has just dropped "Dirty Laundry," the aptly titled brand new single from her forthcoming album “Talk a Good Game.” In it, the 32-year-old admits to being envious of her former Destiny's Child bandmate, Beyoncé.
She also talks about being in an abusive relationship ― led by the touchingly spare piano ballad, the R&B jam spools into a dark confessional with Rowland singing about her abusive ex.
The song kicks off with soul-baring lyrics lamenting how Bey's superstardom overshadowed her own solo career and ends sadly, with a leering key: "Love is pain, Pain is love!"
Kelly sings: When you’re soaked in tears for years, it never airs out..........
While my sister was on stage, killin' it like a motherf**I was enraged, feelin' it like a motherf**Bird in a cage, you would never know what I was dealin' withWent out separate ways, but I was happy she was killin' itBittersweet, she was up, I was downNo lie, I feel good for her, but what do I do nowForget the records, off the record, I was goin' through some bullsh!tPost-survivor, she on fire, who wanna hear my bullsh!tMeanwhile, this n!gga putting his hands on meSwear y’all don’t know the half of this industry...........
Listen to Kelly Rowland gets confessional with 'Dirty Laundry
Straight from the heart...so touching!
She needs to stand up and stop living in and being comfortable being Beyonce's sidekick.
