Not again! Algerian plane with at least 116 people on board disappears
Another day, another air disaster. This is beginning to get scary. The Air Algerie MD-83 en route from the capital of Burkina Faso to Algiers with 116 passengers and crew aboard has dropped off the radar.
The operators of the aircraft, say they lost contact with the flight 50 minutes after it took off from Burkina Faso at 9:17 p.m. ET and was supposed to land in Algiers about four hours later but never reached its destination.
The airplane is operated by Air Algerie and owned by the Spanish private company Swiftair.
Flight AH5017 was reported to be flying through an area affected by violent storms.
