Obviously, fans of the iconic footie manager have been paying their respects on Twitter, but the hashtag #FergieRetires has confused plenty of music fans on the social networking site.
It all started with a tweet from comedian Jack Whitehall, who quipped: “First JLS now Fergies retiring! How will the black Eyed Peas cope with this!”
His post has been retweeted over 2,000 times so far, and other people have picked up on confusing and funny error.
Other tweets included British people in the know mocking non-Brit tweeters, who freaked out about Fergie’s retirement.
The Fergie hype was not about Fergie from the black eyed peas people, its Fergie ― Sir Alex Ferguson (SAF)Manchester United manager......You should be ashamed! LOLz!!
