Arnold Minde of Safari Yetu from Tanzania, the winner of the business pitch competition at the GIST Startup Boot Camp—East Africa! Sarafi Yetu has developed a web and mobile-based ticketing system for intercity buses in Tanzanians that replaces the inefficient paper system.

He won 600 USD and the top 11 got Nokia Phones.150 Entrepreneurs from all across East Africa went to Blue Pearl Hotel for the 2 day GIST Boot Camp.May 7 & 8.

GIST builds entrepreneurial ecosystems in 54 countries across the Middle East, Turkey, Asia and Africa by identifying, coaching, and funding the most promising technology entrepreneurs through its flagship competitions, start-up acceleration services, online social media platform and interactive mentorship programs.

GIST forges partnerships, locally and globally, among technology entrepreneurs, angel investors, mentors, and experts, to foster human progress and prosperity. The GIST Initiative is a partnership led by the U.S. Department of State and CRDF Global (an independent nonprofit organization that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration through grants, technical resources, and training).

CRDF Global is based in Arlington, Virginia.
