Chelsea survived the dismissal of captain John Terry to record a 2-2 draw at Barcelona and book their place in the Champions League final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Sergio Busquets put Barca ahead and, after Terry's dismissal, Andres Iniesta gave the hosts the aggregate advantage. Lionel Messi hit the bar with a penalty and then struck a post before Fernando Torres scored late on.

Chelsea produced one of the greatest escapes in the history of European football tonight as they survived the sending off of John Terry to win an astonishing Champions League semi-final with Barcelona.

It looked certain Messi would end his Chelsea hoodoo but, incredibly, he smashed his effort against the crossbar.
