The selfie syndrome - how social media is making us narcissistic.

What is Narcissism?
Narcissistic personality disorder involves a preoccupation with self and how one is perceived by others. Narcissists pursue gratification from vanity and the admiration of their own physical and intellectual attributes.

Signs of narcissism:

Unilateral listening
Instead of listening in order to respond, narcissists listen in order to dismiss, negate, ignore, minimize or otherwise make someone else’s concerns irrelevant

Preoccupied with self
Narcissists act selfishly and, even if being generous, are generally only responsive to their own concerns

Being above the rules
Narcissists feel that they are above others and that the rules don’t apply to them

How to sleep train your baby

1- Put your baby in the crib while he or she is drowsy but not fully asleep.

2- Check back in at calculated intervals with progressively longer stretches of time between each one. (For instance, check on your baby after 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, etc.)

3- Be consistent. Picking up your baby sometimes and not others will only confuse him or her, extending the sleep training process.

4- Most parents and experts claim that this method has babies falling asleep without so much as a whimper in three or four nights. However, the first night or two can consist of an hour of relentless crying :-( which we swear is more torturous for the parents than the baby however don't give up keep on trying it works with time.

Get your groove back after giving birth!

Changes that take place during pregnancy can continue for four to six weeks following birth, which means that it's important to resume exercise gradually. In general, most women can safely perform a low-impact activity (such as walking) one to two weeks after a vaginal birth or three to four weeks after a cesarean birth. You should wait at least six weeks after birth before taking part in any high-impact activities.

How to stay young ......................

Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'.............

Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

Enjoy the simple things.

Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

Drinking at work: not a healthy trend

Is it OK to have a drink during your working hours?.
They say a man’s work is never done.
They say you can’t mix business with pleasure.
They say that good things come to those who wait.

Some of the adverts show mostly thirty-something men and women drinking alcohol in what is clearly an office environment. Can you mix business with pleasure, and why wait until you leave work to have that first drink?

Some companies like Twitter and Yelp stock beer in office refrigerators.

A report indicates that about 8% of full-time employees report having five or more drinks on five or more occasions a month. According to that study, both heavy drinking the night before work and drinking immediately before or during working hours contributed to work performance problems.

If you're an eagle don't hang with chickens....'Chickens can't fly!

If you're an eagle don't hang with chickens is an interesting story I enjoy very much, though i'm not the original writer i thought to share it on my blog.

Don't spend major time with minor people. If there are people in your life that continually disappoint you, break promises, stomp on your dreams, too judgmental, have different values and don't have your back during difficult times...that is not a friend.

Sometimes in life as you grow, your friends will either grow or go. Surround yourself with people who reflect values, goals, interests and lifestyle.

Remember the old adage "Birds of a feather flock together. If you're an eagle, don't hang around chickens: Chickens can't Fly!

Watch your mouth....words can be forgiven not forgotten

Words are not only for communication. Words can act as weapons. These weapons can hurt more than physical weapons. Suppose somebody injures you physically. You can get that treated. But if somebody hurts your heart with words, you can never get treated.Every relationship works on words.Any word that is not deserved hurts badly -especially if such words come out of the mouth of your partner, family or friend.

Sometimes we speak without realizing the hurt we are giving to the other person. Our emotions makes us forget that we are talking to a human being with a heart. In proverb 12:18:19 The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.Words can hurt like a wound caused by a piercing sword.Words are powerful, they constantly affect our environment. Our lives today are a reflection of our previous words and thoughts.Your words reveal the truth of your thoughts, your heart, and your beliefs.

The energy attached to your words will manifest itself in your life and become your fence line. There are real consequences to the words we speak, Whether our words are about hatred, ignorance, gossip, or humor, our words influence us and people around us.

17 ways to ♥ yourself

1. Fall in love with yourself
Think about what makes you You. Just like a flower that needs watering to grow, learn to nurture yourself in every way. Love yourself for all the good that you see and accept your flaws and the fact that you are imperfect. This does not mean that you do not learn to change from your shortcomings; instead, you are being gentle and kind to yourself despite all your “flaws”. Look in the mirror and fall in love with the reflection that is You.

2. Eliminate Self Criticism
Do you often berate yourself over the tiniest thing? Is there a little voice inside your head that often tells you that you are no good because you are stupid or make mistakes. If you find that you criticize yourself often, make an effort to stop the self criticism.

3. Be Kind and Positive
When you start to think kindly and positively about yourself, the love you have for yourself just grows. Make it a habit to praise yourself everyday, while in the front of the mirror. Because of such thoughts, you naturally undertake empowering actions that support your development.

Pets can give you a longer life

People with pets tend to have greater self-esteem, are more physically fit, less lonely, less fearful and more extrovert than non-owners.

Having a pet who loves you unconditionally and who depends on you is a great way to feel better about yourself.

Another claim is that pets are good stress-busters and the relationship you have with them can increase quantities of the bonding-hormone oxytocin in the bloodstream, while also decreasing stress hormones such as cortisol.

Animals can have a huge impact on our lives even if they’re not our own pets. Horses often have a calming effect on those who are troubled.

Autistic children can improve their powers of communication through riding horses and being encouraged to care for them.

Being emotionally close to another being, even an animal, is one of life’s richest experiences.
