Dar es Salaam City’s crow-removal exercise starts soon!

Well, let me start from the beginning. ... I don't know how many black crows are there in Dar — there're about a million black crows in the skies over Dar es Salaam and its immediate surroundings.

The Govt. is preparing to embark upon a project to kill off black crows in the city and the surrounding littoral.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism inform the citizens living in the city of Dar es Salaam to take precautions during this time where the Department conducts an exercise to kill black crows in using poison stabilized called SRC 1339.h

Although the poison has no harm to humans, people, especially children, are required not to play with the dead crows who had died from poisoning.

The Ministry, began to destroy black craws in Dar es Salaam since last December in 2010 under a special project funded by the Government, in collaboration with the Embassies of Denmark and Finland, and the U.S. Agency for USAID,killed a total of 750,000 birds using special traps and poison.

However, these birds are still in Dar es Salaam and continue to make a nuisance in the city. This is why the exercise has to be done now and kill many more.

A total of 1000 craws have been already killed since the ongoing operation started on August 27, 2012.

Citizens are required to cooperate by showing the dead bodies.

They're also required to report the areas with a large number of birds by informing the municipal office or by calling 0754 498957 (Kinondoni), 0757 585 358 (Ilala District) and 0714 119 200 (Temeke).

I do hate crows,we need to destroy all the eggs and the chicks, they are just terrible. They poop, and bird poop is gross, and it ruins the paint job on our cars, Sometimes you'll be walking around and you'll get hit right on theshoulder or head. It can really ruin your day that’s absurd, and they need to go.
