She is 2013/2014 break out movie star and yes,she is African, a Kenyan to be more specific. Lupita Nyongo'o is proof that dark skin is still very much in demand. She proves black is indeed beautiful. For someone who's first international movie break came from her role in "12 years a slave"..

Her amazing fashion choices has earned her a place in the good books of Fashion .She was named best red carpet look of the Golden Globes(by Joan Rivers Fashion Police)

Remember the red dress with the cape? She is now the face of Mui Mui and the face of manymagazine covers..

She won the Critics Choice Movie Awards 2014-Best Supporting Actress. She got a standing ovation when she expressed her shock at being nominated alongside Oprah , Julia Roberts & winning.

Golden Globes nominee....Oscars nominee...and we hope she wins this ones too.

She's multilingual: In addition to English and her native Luo, the actress speaks Spanish, Swahili and conversational Italian. Before her big movie debut, Nyong'o was a regular on the Kenyan television series "Shuga."

Nyong'o was born in Mexico when her Kenyan parents were in political exile. Her family later returned to Kenya, where she spent most of her childhood. She later went to the United States, where she got her undergraduate degree from Hampshire College in Massachusetts, and later graduated from Yale School of Drama in 2012.She is also from the same tribe as President Barack Obama's father.
