Side effects of laser hair removal
Laser hair removal treatments have some side effects during the treatment and after the treatment. There may be near immediate reaction as skin becomes red and swollen just after the treatment and this swelling and redness can be alleviated with ice packs. In some cases localized blistering occurs around the hair follicles. If it happens so then antibiotics should be applied.
Allergic problems can be caused due to direct exposure to sun. Sunscreen should be used to prevent side effects. Different bacterial infections can also occur. Darkening or lightening of skin or tattoos can also occur. To prevent side effects of laser hair removal treatment, people should be very careful in selecting the consultant. Laser hair removal consultant must be licensed dermatologist and follow all precautionary measures.
The risks of laser hair removal are due to the potential damage that may occur when the skin surrounding the hair follicles absorbs the laser. The most common symptoms following treatment can involve skin irritation such as redness, swelling and mild pain. Sometimes the laser can lighten or darken the skin colour, and in rare cases there can be scarring or blistering. Because the laser is absorbed by melanin, the darker the skin, the higher the risk of damage. There are newer laser therapy methods emerging that offer a more focused light that can be safer and used on those who have darker skin with less complications. I have done laser hair removal from Fairview clinic in Toronto. I had red bumps on my skin for 3 days, after that it went off.
