Is actor Chiwetel Ejiofor not proud of being Nigerian?

He was born in England. So technically he's British.

BAFTAs leading actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor is definitely not feeling being a Nigerian.

Ejiofor was born and raised in the UK, so he has a British citizenship and prefers to be recognized as British.

In a recent interview with popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, the '12 years a slave' actor said he's originally from London despite having Nigerian roots.

Ellen: Where are you from?
Chiwetel: London
Ellen: London! Originally London!
Chiwetel: Yeah, where I was born but my family is Nigerian.(both his parents are Nigerian)

    A full blooded Nigerian says he's from London but he's parents are Nigeria? Hmmm!! So sad.

    He is Londoner. we can now stop calling him a Nigerian or Nigerian actor. He doesn't regard himself a Nigerian

    Whether we like it or not, he is British. Chiwetel was born and raised in the UK. He just has Nigerian parents and that's it
