David Beckham to launch his own football team
Speaking at a press conference in Miami, Beckham unveiled the new franchise..
The former footballer – who retired as a player in May 2013 -said he wanted to encourage young soccer talent in north and central America.This is an exciting time for myself, my family, my friends and partners, and it is something we are really looking forward to bringing to Miami.I want to create a team that we can start from scratch and I am going to work hard for this city to make this team very successful.Everything I have done throughout my career has been very personal and like this one it is a very personal one. I want to make this my own team.
The site of the stadium for Golden Balls' team is yet to be decided but the 38-year-old revealed the project will not use any public funding.
Beckham, who won the Champions League, the Premier League, La Liga and Ligue 1 as a player, wants to recruit some of the best players but he didn't confirm any names.
