Liverpool fan stabbed to death after Arsenal's defeat
Liverpool smashed Arsenal 5-1, a result that sparked a fierce argument between two fans at a bar in Makutano. Mwangi got angry after Mutethia taunted him and eventually stabbed him.
Muteithia was pronounced dead on arrival at Meru Level Five Hospital.
The assailant managed to escape but residents brought down a motorbike he was seen riding on and they have launched a manhunt for him. The motorcycle was being held at the Meru police station.
On December 8 last year, a young man committed suicide in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate after his team Manchester United lost by a lone goal to Newcastle united.
In May 2012, an Arsenal fan, Suleiman Alfonso Omondi, 29, also committed suicide in his house in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate after his team lost.
The love for soccer does make soccer enthusiast do weird things. There is no doubt, Kenyans passionately love soccer and can kill for it.
