Teen shot dead by police officer over Wii remote

Christopher Roupe from Georgia was shot and killed by a police officer who mistook a Wii remote he was holding for a gun.

Police had visited the home to execute a violation of probation violation warrant against his father. When 17-year-old aspiring Marine opened the door, an officer shot him in the chest.

Roupe was transported to a hospital in Cartersville where he was pronounced dead.

Police claim the teen pointed a gun directly at the female officer, prompting her to blast the boy in the chest, but witnesses say he was holding a Nintendo Wii controller.

The officer who fired the fatal shot has been placed on administrative leave as the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) is investigating the incident.

Its unclear whether a weapon was found at the scene.

Roupe was a member of the ROTC at Woodland High School and was planning to join the marines after finishing high school.

What a tragic death, May the Almighty rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family.
