A feast for the eyes!

A female murderer convicted of torturing and killing a mentally impaired man she had promised to marry in 1998, was put to death Wednesday evening.

Suzanne Basso, 59, was lethally injected with a dose of pentobarbital in front of two friends. She was pronounced dead 11 minutes later.

Basso had made herself the beneficiary of Musso's insurance policies and took over his Social Security benefits after she and five others had battered, bleached, scoured and burnt 59-year-old Louis "Buddy" Musso with cigarettes. Then they deposited his body in a ditch outside Houston, Texas.

She was described during the trial as the ring leader in the crime. During her trial, her own daughter described her as a physical and sexual abuser.

This makes only the 14th time a female has been executed in the U.S. Nearly 1,400 men have been put to death since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976.
