14-year-old girl arrested over 'terror threat' tweet to American Airlines

This is why you should be careful about what you say online ...

A 14-year-old Dutch girl who tweeted a alleged terrorist threat to American Airlines has been arrested in Rotterdam.

Twitter user @QueenDemetriax, who calls herself Sarah, tweeted the following message to the official American Airlines account:
The threat was apparently meant as a joke, but American Airlines wasn't laughing, within minutes the airline responded sternly by saying:
The conversation was quickly shared across social media with the 14-year-old quickly gaining 30,000 followers.

The girl claimed all she wanted was to be famous, but lamented finding the wrong kind of fame: "I always wanted to be famous, but I meant like Demi Lovato famous, not Osama bin laden famous"

She then regretted sending the 'joke' bomb threat.
A police spokesman in the Dutch city of Rotterdam told CNBC the girl voluntarily reported to the police station and was arrested on the advice of prosecutors at mid-afternoon Monday.

Price of stupidity - According to the official twitter of the Rotterdam police, the girl voluntarily reported to the police station accompanied by a family member and was arrested in relation to the American Airlines threat while investigation continues.
The spokesman said she is being held on suspicion of creating a false alarm and there was a lot of commotion over that tweet being sent.

Her Twitter account has since been suspended.
