Ecuadorian beauty queen died during liposuction procedure she received as a prize

A 19yr old Ecuadorian beauty queen and medical student has died on Saturday January 10th during a botched liposuction operation she received as a prize for winning her local beauty contest.

Catherine Cando, who was crowned the Queen of Durán after beating 23 other girls in October last year, was showered with prizes, including a new Aveo car 2015, a smart tablet and a free course of cosmetic surgery procedure.

Prosecutors suspect the teen died from medical malpractice and ordered the arrest of two doctors who performed the surgery on charges of negligence.

May her soul rest in peace.
