WhatsApp has revealed that it now has over 400 million active users per month.

WhatsApp’s CEO, Jan Koum revealed in a blog post.

WhatsApp has reached a milestone that no other mobile messaging service has achieved: 400 million monthly active users, with 100 million active users added in the last four months alone.”

This is perhaps the most important stat when you look at social sites or messaging apps because it shows the number of people that really use the service. Other competitors of WhatsApp like Japan’s LINE and China’s WeChat which boast of 300 million and 270 million registered users respectively have not revealed their monthly active user data.

Its not a count of people who just registered for WhatsApp – it’s the number of people who are actively using the service every single month.

Another deadly blast has rocked the Russian city of Volgograd, killing at least 14 people aboard a trolleybus during today's morning commute and and injured 28.

The explosion comes a day after a suicide bombing in the city killed at least 17 people and injured more than 40.The explosion was apparently set off by a male suicide bomber and remnants of his body have been sent for identification, Russian Investigative Committee said.

He was caught this past December, 15 months after the crime. He even had her face tattooed on his neck. Beyond belief. He's obviously mentally disturbed.

At least 26 people, including two children, have died after a fire broke out on a train in India, reports say.

The blaze engulfed a carriage of the Nanded-Bangalore Express while it was travelling through southern Andhra Pradesh state, rail officials said.

Police said many of the dead had been trapped inside and suffocated by thick black smoke filling the train.

An electrical short circuit may be to blame, officials say, and an inquiry is under way.

The fire broke out in an air-conditioned carriage around 03:30 local time (22:00 GMT) near the small town of Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.
